Our 2005 Conference offered solutions to be developed by the SWHI that broadly sought:
- An increase in awareness of the public and local authorities of the need to increase housing provision to sustain a prosperous economy.
- An increase in public investment in social and affordable housing and skilled support for local planning and housing authorities.
- An increase in housing allocations at regional and local levels.
- A clear planning framework supported by all arms of government.
- An increase in the release of publicly owned land.
- A housing industry response that delivered housing in well designed, mixed and sustainable communities sufficient to meet demand.
The report on the South West Housing Conference includes a summary of the issues considered in conference and the recommendations that arose from the group and plenary sessions.
