On 15th January 2010, the SWHI staged the region's first Housing Summit, attended by more than 130 delegates, including councillors and senior executives from 25 South West councils. Speakers included front-bench spokesmen from all three Parliamentary parties, and the heads of the Homes & Communities Agency, the CBI, and South West Councils. The event also included accolades to those who have generated successful South West housing initiatives.

The SWHI will now consider planning the next Summit which could track the progress of issues and ideas raised at the first event - and focus on post election developments.
